More than half Estonian marriages and partnerships end with separation. Fatherless girls raised by their mothers learn that one cannot count on men - you have to survive on your own. Protagonist Airika comes from the family of single mothers - her great-grandmother, grandmother and mother have been raising their children on their own. Great-grandmother and grandmother were deported to Siberia in 1949 - they had to raise their daughters without men. Airika's mother has divorced twice and raising Airika's 16-year-old sister alone. The documentary observes 25-year-old Airika's daily life and investigates the reasons why the young woman has decided to live without a man and become a single mother.
