Angla windmills

Restoring Angla windmills in Saaremaa island, Estonia.

The windmill hill in Angla village, Saaremaa island, used to have nine windmills. Albert Seppel has conducted a research on local history and as a result these working wildmills can be seen on photographs. The windmills are now more or less broken. Karja model sovkhoz of Kingissepa district allocated money for restoring the windmills. Voldemar Laur, head of the sovkhoz, evalutes the status of the windmills together with craftsmen. The wooden post windmills that are so characteristic to Saaremaa island should not disappear from the local scene.
