„Wounds of Afghanistan“ is a film about Estonian men currently in their forties whose lives were changed forever during the period of 1979-1989 when Estonians were forced to fight with the Soviet army in Afghanistan. When twenty-year old, they were sent by the Soviet authorities to the Afghan War where no-one had ever left as a winner. This was a a war for foreign country and unknown purposes. Every man tried to escape – few succeeded.
The heroes of the film are the artist Aivar Simson – Simson from Seaküla - and Leino Juhkam. The first one lost his nerves in the war but was saved by art and the second lost his legs having dreamed about becoming a farmer.
