In 1946-47, a group of resistance fighters led by captain Lembit Mõtus hide in a bunker of the ’forest brothers’, waiting for liberation of Estonia and struggle with local Soviet authorities. After a rape attempt in the woods, Lembit's pretty bride Linda moves to live with the ’forest brothers’. Local fellow villager working at railway informs them about the arriving train transporting money. They rob the train and decide to share the million Roublesa the with hundred neighbouring farms for paying compulsory taxes. Villager Endel, forest warden Juhan and his wife Maali get killed in the battle.
