Jan in torn between pursuing his dream to be a race car driver and the reality of his dream being unachievable. By the time he has realized his conundrum, he has nothing to show for in his life. The failed expectations of his mother and success of his peers drive him toward the criminal underworld where taking shortcuts is not frowned upon, but encouraged and success seems to be always just around the corner.
