Sünopsis

Meeting between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of all UN member countries, taking place on September 24-27, 1995, is a part of the programme of the 50th anniversary of UN General Assembly. Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Riivo Sinijärv, also takes part in the event. Sinijärv holds a speech at the general discussion on September 25th while focusing on the following subjects: the Republic of Estonia joining European Union; border issue with Russia; feeling of satisfaction after the departure of foreign troops; being proud of taking part in the UN peace support operation for the first time. For Estonia it is especially important to follow the environmental strategy Agenda 21 for the 21st century; extention of the treaty of nuclear disarmament; and supporting the expanded and more effective UN Security Council.
