Sünopsis

The outing of expatriate Estonians in Hindås, West Sweden on June 23, 1947 celebrates the Midsummer Day and the Victory Day. The documentary piece is introduced by the quotation by Johan Kõpp: "The nation that does not want to die won't disappear". Swedish and Estonian national flags are waving in the ski jump tower. View to the surrounding landscape. Buses and trucks are in the parking lot, plenty of people are getting off the train. Participants wearing native costumes walk in the festive procession in Hindas station in the morning and they arrive at the party ground. Valdur Leinveer, head of Borås Estonian Vocational School and the head of the organisational team holds the opening speech. The national flag of Estonia is hoisted and people sing the national anthem. Bishop Johan Kõpp and Metropolitan Alexander hold the religious service. Joint mixed choir of West Sweden is performing. Sports games are held. There is an open stand selling publications by the publishing house Ort and the newspaper Eesti Teataja. Exhibition of culture and cratfts. Heino Riomar, head of Estonian National Foundation in Gothenburg. Meals are cooked in outdoor kettles, sandwiches are made and people are eating outdoors. Speech by Nikolai Kaasik, representative of the Estonian Committee. General view to the celebration ground from the ski jump tower. Performance by folk dancers and accordion players. Final speeches by Voldemar Brun, chairman of the Estonian Society in Borås. The cameraman shows the heads and organizers of the celebration. The documentary ends with the campnfire of the scouts and guides.
