The Nõu family takes a speedboat ride to Lake Hjälmaren in June 1974. On Lake Ekoln the family passes Skokloster Castle. They pass several bridges on their way and fill up at the boat gas station. Water is too cold for swimming at the first stop. Heino is rowing with the inflatable boat. They visit the town of Strängnäs located in Lake Mälaren. Strängnäs dome church and street views. Camping overnight on a rocky coast, sunset into the sea. Children reading books during the boat ride. The speedboat is passing underneath of a big cable railway. The boat in the canal lock, waiting for the lock to be filled with water. On their way they have to pass several more navigable locks. Nature has become greener, water is warmer for swimming, lots of water birds with nestlings. The Nõu family's dog also accompanies the family on their trip. Finally they return to their the boat harbour near home.
