When the frontline extends over Estonia in the summer of 1944, the pilots of a shot down Soviet airplane come to ask for help to Meelaku farm where organ builder Jaan lives with his kids Johann, Sebastian and little Mari. Their mother has died in war and the family won't hear of any Germans or Russians. One pilot needs an operation so Jaan sends for Evelyn Ewers, a German military doctor. The course of events forces to stay everyone in the farmhouse until the final decision must be made.
