Occupied Estonia. Stalin and his era when poets wrote him odes and poems but the bushwhackers sang: " ... and our aim is to kill Stalin". From the tribunes, Stalin was addressed as "the great friend of Estonian nation", nevertheless, for the majority of Estonian Stalin's name embodied the violence and lies that hit Estonia. This influenced all areas of life and no-one was left untouched by the terror. The documentary breakrs the myth about the joint resistance of Estonian nation to the foreign power and gives the warning that there is the possibility that similar things could happen again.

The film directed by Herbert Rappaport is based on the story "Light in Koordi", telling about collectivization in Estonia during the era of Stalinist propaganda. Starring Georg Ots.

Paul Runge, a Red Army soldier, returns to his home village Koordi after the war. Despite the new regime people have not changed much. The village is still the same - neglected and without culture - where prosperous farmers maltreat local peasants, either with using tricks or with brutality. The hopes of new settlers are high, but the harvest will be poor. When Muuli from the Communist Party and Runge realize that small households have no power, they will start to talk about establishing a collective farm. Estonian Film Database (EFDB)

The database is maintained by NGO Estonian Film Database. It was opened on 12.12.2012 and is meant for providing information about the whole Estonian film heritage from 1912. We plan fully complete it by 2025 but already now full and partial entries for about 20 000 films, 27 000 filmmakers, and more than 200 production companies could be retrieved in Estonian and partly in English. Translation of film descriptions and keywords into English is ongoing but due to the scarcity of resources quite a slow process. Read more detailed overview.
