Kassilaane elementary school was founded already in the middle of 19th century. By the beginning of 1980s, the school has only one teacher and three pupils left. The filmmakers observe the daily life of the small village school: classes, playing, lunchtime, physical education class. "Summer" depicts the life of the early 20th century in a humorous way while the lyrical undertone is provided by beautiful Estonian landscapes and the soundtrack familiar from "Spring".
