Many want to break out of the consumer society but few do it as radically as Jim and Maarja. They have established their home amidst the forest of Lahemaa, Estonia, using recycled materials, growing their own food and producing their own electricity. The summer has passed building with the help of volunteers and several odd structures are taking shape. But the weather gets colder and their self-made solar panels stop producing current. Today's milk production in Estonia moves to the direction of big cattles and automated farms. Rein Külama still runs the archaic small diary farm. Together with his wife they take care of their cattle themselves and sell milk to people. Already for the past twenty years Rein has had a ritual – twice a week he drives through Maardu and former summer cottages district in order to sell milk. Despite the fact that there are raw milk automatic stations in supermarkets, the old-fashioned milk selling still has its magic and the clientele.

Tiit Niilo comes from an old-established Southern Estonian family and builds his own dairy farm, he also tries to save the local school and hopes to bring the problematic issues of his home village to the Parliament. Tiit has five children - the strong family farm looks promising. So he works his fingers to the bone in order to keep his farm alive, to preserve rural life and to satisfy his ancestors. Both positive and negative aspects of living in the countryside are discussed in the documentary.
