Shortly before Estonia regained its independence, a painting studio came into being, a studio that was guided by principles of painting that dated back to the First Republic. Heldur Viires, the leader and teacher of the school, has been passing on his knowledge of colour and light for thirty meaningful years.
Two grand old masters, artists Evald Okas and photographer Kalju Suur, are recording the beauty of a naked woman.
94-year-old Evald Okas's life has been dedicated to art: the grand master himself casts light upon the stories of how his artwork was born, tells about his life and reveals the secrets of his working principles.
This film's central theme is freedom - human and above all artist's freedom: artistic, spiritual and physical, observed retroactively by the author herself. This sincere and confessional biography examines the author's complicated and versatile artistic nature. Marriage to a loved one brings on a clear understanding of responsibility. It is because of that freedom, that you can take on new challenges and understand, that be it painting, writing, acting, or filming - your art is one whole.

Estonian Film Database (EFDB)
The database is maintained by NGO Estonian Film Database. It was opened on 12.12.2012 and is meant for providing information about the whole Estonian film heritage from 1912. We plan fully complete it by 2025 but already now full and partial entries for about 20 000 films, 27 000 filmmakers, and more than 200 production companies could be retrieved in Estonian and partly in English. Translation of film descriptions and keywords into English is ongoing but due to the scarcity of resources quite a slow process. Read more detailed overview.
