Märten is a nine-year-old schoolboy who has made up his mind to sell newspapers in summer. This seems to be a boring and routine work in the streets of Tallinn that throws the child into the world of adults. Märten is an optimistic and active boy whose sales go well, despite the fact that selling fifteen newspapers requires stamina and optimistic attitude. He won't lose his nerve when people won't buy, and when he meets competitors and even phonies. Märten charms people with his sincerity and earns even tips. The boy has a heart even to give money to beggars.
