Plot summary

Opening of the monument for Johannes Vares-Barbarus, the 1st chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of Estonian SSR.

Opening ceremony of the memorial column for Johannes Vares-Barbarus in honor of his 60th birth anniversary took place on January 13th in Kadriorg, Tallinn. Representatives of the state government, leading offices of the Communist Party and the workers of Tallinn have gathered in front of the administrative building. August Kründel, secretary of the Presidium of the Supreme Council, opens the monument. The cover is taken off from the memorial column and everyone is applauding. Writer Johannes Semper, Alfred Valdov, subscriber of the machinery plant, and others talk about the merits of Vares-Barbarus for the nation of Estonia.
