Jaan’s Night is Ingrid Hübscher’s debut film, which was completed as part of her studies at the Kaskeline Filmakademie in Berlin, Germany. The theme of the film probably reflects the fact that as a mother of two small children, the director had suffered under chronic lack of sleep for some years. The screenplay was written especially for the director’s father, who plays the main character Jaan. It is a low-budget film shot almost entirely in natural light. The film was made in collaboration with Estonian filmmakers and students of the Baltic Film and Media School.
