KINOEYES KEM – The European Movie Masters programme
“Impromptu” is a psychological thriller, with a tone of mystery and ambiguity, it has also, some fantasy elements.
We will use a confusing and a tense mood to create and represent Lewis’s state of mind. The cinematic style is going to be a combination of static shots and steadicam. This is because the story is situated mainly in one living room. We will use dolly movements to create and amplify some elements of the story. We are also dealing with animal figurines and paintings. To achieve this, we will use an objective point of view the animals (paintings, pots, figurines, etc), smoothened with dolly movements: this will give the feeling that the figurines and paintings all over the room, are alive. This will also help us to represent the conflict between Lewis and Mary Ann.
