Writer and film director Valentin Kuik was born on January 27, 1943.
Graduated from the department of film directing of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography, Russia, in 1975.
Kuik’s short story Geisha won the Estonian short story competition in 1980; novel The Revolt of the Sons earned the first place in the Estonian novel competition in 1996; The Smile of the Beloved was named the best Estonian TV play in 1996. Best Estonian Playwright Award in 1997.
Has made eight feature films and 21 documentaries.
