Captain Fyodor Volkonogov, a well-respected and obedient USSR law enforcer, witnesses his peers being suspiciously questioned. Drama directed by Valentin Kuik tells about a young couple whose life will be changed by recruitment. The film is based on the author's short story "The Deserter" (1987). The shooting process started in late 1980s and ended after Estonia regained its independence. The film is the director's retrospect to the Soviet times.
