Three ministers have been invited from Estonia to serve the exile congregations in Toronto. By now, the main job of Jüri, Kalle and Mart is to bury the generation that fled Estonia in 1944. The documentary uses burials to talk about the disappearance of traditional funeral services and the profession of clergyman. When the frontline extends over Estonia in the summer of 1944, the pilots of a shot down Soviet airplane come to ask for help to Meelaku farm where organ builder Jaan lives with his kids Johann, Sebastian and little Mari. Their mother has died in war and the family won't hear of any Germans or Russians. One pilot needs an operation so Jaan sends for Evelyn Ewers, a German military doctor. The course of events forces to stay everyone in the farmhouse until the final decision must be made.

The debut feature film by Theodor Luts who himself took part in the Estonian War of Independence. It is the first Estonian war film that depicts young men from all over Estonia fighting for the freedom of their fatherland. The silent film consists of numerous spectacular battle scenes.

This Estonian feature film is among the few films produced before 1940 that have been almost fully preserved. Three young men have become friends during the times of the Estonian War of Independence. While fighting for their fatherland, they experience both hazardous and romantic moments without losing their bravery, coolheadedness and sense of humour. The film is full of epic battle scenes, patriotism and pathos. „Young Eagles“ was digitally remastered and returned to the big screen in 2007 accompanied by the specially compiled background music.
